Car Parking Petition signed by over 1500 people
The Hinckley and District Chamber of Trade in conjunction with the Businesses at the Top of the Town ie. Upper Castle Street, Castle Street, Hill Street, New Buildings and The Lawns have organised a Car Parking Petition,signed already by 1500 people. The petition calls upon the Borough Council it take urgent action to remedy the lack of parking at the top of the Town following the closure of the Co-op the only reasonable size car park in the area. Businesses and customers have signed in a very short time to save the well loved, unique, independent businesses who are suffering a significant fall in turnover. Footfall is down at the top of the Town due to customers difficulty finding anywhere to park. The Petition was handed in to the Leader of the Borough Council on Tuesday the 3rd of May by representatives of the HDCOT and their member businesses and a meeting was held in the Council Offices. The Leader promised to look into various suggestions put forward and to present the Petition to the Mayor.
